Event Organizer
This Halloween event ("Event") is organised by Southport Model Engineering Club ("SMEC","we","us","our").

Nature of Tickets / DonationsYour booking is treated as a donation with benefits — you are making a payment to SMEC in return for admission to a specific Event session time slot to ride the Ghost Train.Each ticket is for one passenger (like any real railway). You must purchase one ticket per person attending.Because a benefit (attendance) is provided in return,the donation may not qualify for UK Gift Aid. If you wish to make a separate Gift Aid–eligible donation,this can be done independently of ticket booking.

Right to Cancel or AmendSMEC reserves the right to cancel,postpone or amend the Event or any session for any reason (e.g. safety concerns,weather,operational issues) without liability.If we cancel,we will endeavour to give notice as soon as possible via the website,social media channels or email (if tickets booked).If cancellation occurs,your remedy will be a refund or rebooking of your donation payment.

Changes to Terms &ConditionsWe reserve the right to update or amend these Terms &Conditions at any time at our discretion.The version of these Terms in effect at the time you make your booking will govern your contract with us. If you have already booked tickets and we make material changes that significantly affect your booking,we will notify you via email (if provided) or our website,and you may be entitled to a refund if the changes materially affect the Event you booked for.For future bookings made after any amendments,the updated Terms will apply. Changes will be published on our website and the revision date updated accordingly.It is your responsibility to review the current Terms before making a booking. By completing a booking or attending the Event,you confirm that you have read,understood and agree to be bound by these Terms &Conditions.

Tickets,Booking &Sessions

• One ticket per passenger required - each ticket admits one person only (like any real railway).
• Advance booking is strongly recommended;capacity is limited by session per hour.
• Tickets are issued for specific half-hour time slots only. Admission is valid only for the one ride on the Ghost Train in the session time selected.
• Please arrive at least 15 minutes before your session start time. For Safety and Operational reasons,Late arrivals may be refused entry once capacity is reached or the session is underway.
• Tickets / donations are non-refundable,except if SMEC cancels the Event or session time slot.
• Bookings are non-transferable without our prior consent.

Locomotives &Train Operation

• We operate Live Steam Locomotives (traditional coal-fired engines) and Diesel Battery Electric Locomotives (modern electric power).
• Due to operational reasons and limited capacity,passengers will not be able to choose which Ghost Train to ride on based on its traction and motive power. If you purchase multiple tickets,you may ride various trains but this cannot be guaranteed.
• Train capacity varies from 3 passengers (Single Truck) to 7 passengers (Double Truck) based on operational requirements.

Consumer Rights
Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015,if our services are faulty or not as described,you may be entitled to a refund. However,dated event tickets are exempt from the usual 14-day cooling-off period for online purchases.

Arrival and Admission

• SMEC reserves the right to refuse admission to anyone for safety,security or operational reasons.
• Admission is at our discretion;proof of booking may be required.

Parking &Arrival

• Due to the safety of visitors,patreons and members and volunteers during the event,there is no parking on site. Parking is available on Rotten row and surrounding areas.
• Please allow extra time for parking during busy periods.
• We recommend arriving at least 15 minutes before your session start time.

Pets &Assistance Animals

• For safety and operational reasons,pets are not permitted at the Event.
• Assistance animals are welcome in accordance with the Equality Act 2010 and exempt from this restriction.
• Please let us know in advance (where possible) if you will be bringing one,so we can make any necessary arrangements to help you on the day.

Food &Beverages

• Outside food and non-alcoholic beverages are permitted at the Event.
• Alcoholic beverages may not be brought onto the premises.
• Refreshments and snacks are available for purchase at the venue.
• Please dispose of all litter responsibly in the bins provided.

Age &Supervision

• Recommended minimum age 3+ at parent/guardian discretion when accompanied by a responsible adult.
• Children must be supervised at all times.
• Children under 13 years or under 1.2m must ride the ghost train only with an accompanying adult.
• For Operational and Safety reasons,train lengths may vary from 3 Passengers (Single Truck) to 7 Passengers (Double Truck). Please ensure each truck has a responsible adult with minors and children who are under 1.2m.
• Where practical,we will endeavour to keep groups and bookings together.

Health,Safety &Visitor Conduct

• All visitors must follow instructions from SMEC staff,volunteers,or security.
• You are responsible for your own belongings;SMEC accepts no liability for loss or theft.
• Except for proven negligence by SMEC,we are not liable for injury,damage or loss.
• Please contact us in advance regarding medical,sensory,or accessibility requirements.
• Costumes are welcome but must be safe — no sharp objects,realistic weapons,or items causing obstruction or distress to guests or staff whilst at the event.
• Appropriate footwear is required — closed-toe shoes must be worn at all times for safety. No flip-flops,sandals,or high heels.
• Anyone with medical conditions,pregnant guests,or those who may be affected by flashing lights,loud sounds,or smoke effects should consider their suitability for this attraction.
• Each Ghost Train ticket gives you 1x ride on the Ghost Train at your allotted time only. The Stalls,Games and Refreshments have additional charges (which will vary) and are not included in the Ghost Train ticket.

Force Majeure
We are not liable for cancellation,delay or changes caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control (including but not limited to extreme weather,fire,flood,strikes,pandemic,government action). In such cases,refunds or rebooking may be offered at our discretion.

Photography &Media

• SMEC or its partners may record the Event (photo,video,audio). By attending,you consent to your image (and those under your supervision) being used for promotional purposes without payment.
• If you do not wish to be photographed,please notify staff on arrival.
• Visitor photography and filming is not permitted whilst the trains are in motion for safety reasons.
• Photography is permitted in other areas of the Event when safe to do so.

Weather &Outdoor ConditionsThe Event is outdoors. Please dress appropriately for the weather,including warm,waterproof clothing in cold or wet conditions. SMEC is not liable for weather-related discomfort. Sessions may be modified in extreme conditions.

Liability

• To the maximum extent permitted by law,our liability for claims arising out of the Event is limited to the donation amount paid for your ticket.
• Nothing excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by SMEC’s negligence,or for fraud.

Behaviour

• Smoking,vaping,illegal substances,alcohol,weapons,fireworks or other dangerous items are prohibited and NOT allowed on site.
• We may remove any person behaving inappropriately,unsafely,or in breach of these Terms.

Consumer Complaints
For complaints,contact us at halloween@southportmec.com. We aim to respond within 28 days. If unresolved,you may seek assistance from Trading Standards or alternative dispute resolution.

Miscellaneous

• These Terms are governed by the laws of England &Wales.
• The applicable Terms are those published on our website at the time of booking / attendance.
• All donation amounts are clearly displayed;there are no hidden charges.
• These Terms incorporate safeguarding requirements from SMEC safeguarding-policy-v4.
