Sensory-Friendly, Not-Scary Halloween in Southport

A Halloween ghost train inclusive and spook friendly for all the family. Neuro-inclusive session between 4pm and 5:30pm on both nights, Friday 30th – Saturday 31st October 2026.

What we change during the neuro-inclusive session

No jump scares

Nobody leaps out. Our characters stay visible, friendly and at a distance unless your child approaches them first.

Daylight and dusk, not darkness

The between 4pm and 5:30pm session runs before nightfall, so the route is lit and you can see the whole train.

Reduced sound

Music and effects are turned down. No sudden bangs, sirens or screams.

Gentler effects

Smoke and strobe-style lighting are reduced or switched off during the session.

Leave any time

The ride is a loop of approx 6-8 minutes and staff will stop if your child wants to get off.

Questions parents ask us

Is the Ghost Train suitable for autistic children?

Many autistic children enjoy it, particularly during the neuro-inclusive session between 4pm and 5:30pm. The route is predictable, the lighting stays up and there are no jump scares. Our sensory guide below breaks down each type of stimulus so you can judge for yourself.

Will it frighten a toddler?

It is built to be spooky rather than scary — think friendly ghosts and pumpkins, not horror. Children under about 3 usually find it more interesting than frightening, especially in the earlier session.

Do I need to book the sensory session separately?

No. The neuro-inclusive session runs between 4pm and 5:30pm on both nights — just book a ticket for that time slot.

Can we look round before we ride?

Yes. Come to the station area and watch a train go past first. Plenty of families do this before deciding.

Is there somewhere quiet if it gets too much?

Yes — ask any steward in a hi-vis jacket and they will take you to a quieter spot away from the queue and the speakers.
